MONDAY DROP-IN SESSIONS
This project provides sessions where people are free and welcome to come and talk to us about the issues they have and we  provide  space where they can be listened to with a non-judgmental approach. 

It is also an opportunity for them to socialise sand make friends and it has proved to be a great way of  reducing  loneliness and isolation and it has proved very effective in enhancing community cohesion. Clients also participate in physical exercise classes which is led by a qualified tutor from the NHS Greenwich


FEEL GOOD FRIDAYS
Listening Ears in partnership with the NHS Greenwich, has established a community health and wellbeing project on the Flowers Estate in Abbeywood.  Tagged  Feel Good Fridays, it features various activities that are run by Listening Ears volunteers in conjunction with local residents and other service providers including NHS Greenwich, Age Concern, and Volunteer Centre Greenwich.

It features a range of activities designed to increase community cohesion and reduce isolation. These include drop in sessions, weekly physical activity sessions, monthly pamper days.  Training sessions and workshops are also offered on Healthy Eating and Nutrition including Weight Management. 

There are also training sessions on Understanding Health Improvement in conjunction with  the Royal Society of Public Health.  This project was established in response to community need identified through survey of local residents and builds on Listening Ears successful model.



TRAINING & SUPPORT PROGRAMMES
In conjunction with the Royal Society of Public Health, Listening Ears in partnership with the NHS Greenwich has started free trainings to the members of the community on

  • Understanding Health Improvement
  • Healthy Eating and Nutrition including weight management
  • Stop Smoking
  • Drug-proof your kids (parent support)
  • Arthritis management in conjunction with Arthritis UK

These trainings are held on Mondays at the Pavilion, Flowers Estate in Abbeywood.

 

ROSEBUD
Rosebud is a project for young ladies aged 13 to 19 years of age.  Our aim is to support and nurture and mentor them in readiness for complete womanhood.  The atmosphere is a place where the Girls can be “themselves”, learn new skills and improve old ones.

Our empowerment programme themed “Steps 2 Living™” features mentoring, trainings and workshops in different areas including

  • Healthy Eating and Nutrition
  • Weight Management
  • Healthy Heart in conjunction with British Heart Foundation
  • Physical Exercise and Yoga classes

 

BEFRIENDING & OUTREACH (Community Angels™)
Regularly, Listening Ears reaches out to members of our community who are isolated either by reason of old age, loss of spouse or other reasons.  We provide emotional and lifestyle support for them and encourage them to develop interactive skills which will eventually improve their health and they gradually overcome their isolation and get involved in community activities.
